Strategy & Vision

One of our key values is empowering our staff and encouraging them to grow within the business and better themselves.

We aim to identify the potential of all workers and upskill them so they feel good about themselves and in return prove to be an asset to the company.

Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure we continually challenge our way of thinking, to not only develop new and more efficient ways of servicing our client's growing and ever-changing needs but to ensure our internal systems and costs are as efficient as they can be. We focus on being the most innovative company in our field and strive to provide cutting-edge technology and services to our clients.

Our Mission

Our mission is to supply our customers with stock consolidation and delivery services that are not only efficient and reliable but the most cost-effective in the market. We aim to provide superior product quality, which is achieved through efficient management systems and a secure and safe working environment for our employees.

Our Values

  • Over the past 40 years, our clients have deemed us as being honest, reliable, dependable, and approachable with the ability to adapt to their needs as they arise.
  • Innovative and dynamic are terms we hope our clients will be used to describe us.
  • We value our staff, pursue ongoing training, and ensure a safe environment in which work is undertaken.
  • Employee safety and customer satisfaction are of top priority to Special Envoy.

Business Goals

Special Envoy will continue to strive to offer cost-effective methods of delivery from start to finish. This will always be at the heart of our service, from monitoring our vehicle's speed in a fuel-saving exercise to new technology making our staff more efficient and therefore aligning ourselves at the cutting edge of our industry.

We acknowledge our staff as our greatest asset and our goals would not be complete if they were not on top of our list. We continue to ensure our staff is competent in all aspects of their jobs and provide ongoing training and promotion, keeping them skilled and motivated.

GROWTH STRATEGY

Over the past 10 years, Special Envoy has been rather stagnant, and as a result, has been content with servicing our existing client base. However, with increasing costs, we are emphasizing growing our business. Under the auspices of Alex Staniland and Pinky Xaba's powerful and energized team, growth will be a major focus going forward.

COMPETITIVE EDGE

While growth is at the forefront of our strategic planning, one of our major strengths is the size of our organization. Historically we have focused our core business on a niche market, but have realized the importance of diversifying our services to include logistical services to the mining and industrial sectors.

Our key to success has been largely attributed to the owners of the company being accessible at all levels to our clients, and this will continue to ensure our competitive edge.

QUALITY POLICIES

As part of the new ownership strategy, we will be introducing new quality and ISO systems to keep ahead of the times but customers can rest assured that current quality and Health & Safety policies and procedures are in place.

The safety and security and decreases the risk and cost to the client.

History & Background

From humble beginnings 40 years ago, in what was then the Eastern Transvaal, Dave Beveridge, with a long-standing career as a mine manager, realized that one of the biggest challenges the industry faced was their ability to efficiently manage their supply and delivery of stock.

Dave developed a concept that gave the mining industry an off-site stock consolidation service, resulting in one delivery as opposed to multiple deliveries, and thus Special Envoy was born.

Today, 40 years later, Special Envoy operates from its head office on the East Rand, Johannesburg with a fleet of more than 20 vehicles, and 40 full-time employees and is still effectively servicing the mining and associated industries with stock consolidation and delivery services.

With in-depth knowledge and understanding of the mining sector, Special Envoy has expanded over the last 40 years and now offers a wide and flexible range of services not only to the mining sector but various associated industries. These services include internal mail, small parcel and oil sample delivery services, and fixed-term on-site vehicle hire. Acknowledgment of the need to offer exceptional customer service has been our foremost priority and has contributed as one of the major principles for our success. Our list of loyal clientele has remained and supported us for over 20 years. These include well-known and respected brands such as Impala Platinum, Anglo, Seriti, Silicon Smelters, Samancor, Mine and Quarry, Chemquest, Multotech, and Moolmans (Aveng Mining).

Our greatest asset at Special Envoy is our staff, which prides themselves in being ‘the best they can be’.

We have longstanding staff members that have been part of the Special Envoy family for over 26 years. One of our key values is empowering our staff and encouraging them to grow within the business and better themselves. We aim to identify the potential of all workers and upskill them so they feel good about themselves and in return are proud and enjoy what they do.

Management & Ownership

Special Envoy has remained under the same ownership of founder Dave Beveridge for 32 years, but in April 2014 he handed over the reins to Alex Staniland and Pinky Xaba who have similar ethics, business skills, and motivation.

Alex Staniland brings 15 years of experience in business management, having run his own successful, national IT business for 9 years. He sold this business in 2013 and was looking for something new and a worthy challenge. Although the Transport and IT industries seem far apart from one another, they are closer than one would think. Alex’s understanding of IT systems will assist in taking Special Envoy into the digital era. Alex’s role will consist of the day-to-day running of the business, caring for our valued clients and staff alike, and nurturing the success of Special Envoy.

Pinky Xaba comes with 15 years in the Transport Industry and heads up the Transport Division, being, which we feel is the most important position in our company.

The Special Envoy Team also comprises of a General Manager, Financial Manager as well as a Wearhouse and Sales Manager.
